The United Nations General Assembly has declared the period from 2024 to 2033 as the “International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development” (IDSSD). This initiative seeks to harness the potential of science to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and to contribute to solving some of the greatest challenges of our time, including climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The IDSSD focuses on finding solutions to these global challenges. It recognizes science as a common good for humanity and reaffirms its critical role in humanity’s pursuit of a development model that enhances the human condition while safeguarding the planet we depend on for our very survival. Led by UNESCO, the Decade aims to restore confidence in science, encourage critical and nuanced thinking, and strengthen global scientific cooperation. By doing so, we collectively pave the way for a more resilient, equitable, and enlightened world.
We invite you to explore the outcomes of the RAGT project, whose primary goal is to contribute to sustainability through proper waste separation and management. We also encourage you to visit the IDSSD website to learn more.
